..Tablet For Kids..

I get asked one question a lot toward that Santa time of year. What tablet should I ask Santa for my kids?

Let me say the one I am about to go on about we have owned for nearly a year now. We love them. The devices work well, and have surprisingly good hardware under the hood.

Nabi - dreamtab

Manufacture Name: Nabi

Product Name: DreamTab

Drawback: this Tablet does not have Data Card / Sim Card slot or ability. It can however be tethered to your phone, hotspots, or wi-fi. Also with Disney Anywhere, Netflix Downloads, or Vudu, or Google Play it doesn't really matter when going on trips.

There are two Models, One NVidia and one Intel. At my House we have found the NVidia units outperform the Intel units. And they come pre packed with all kinds of DreamWorks Themed Applications and Games as well as Creation Software for making books, movies, or drawing like mad!

These tablets are very safe for kids, and very locked down. There is a mode for adults called "Mommy mode" or "Daddy mode" You can allow or disallow any Google play game you want for the kids. Give them access to YouTube kids, Netflix, mine craft, or whack-a-mole. just because you have access in the parent mode doesn't mean they do. Also apps installed in parent mode will not show up unless you approve it in the add app area for "nabi mode" < for the kids!

The Kids get a special browser for Internet, and you can even set up curfews, so if you want to curb the vides or games, but not them using creative applications like documents, books you may. Simply set up time limits. You can tell it you want the device to be on for just an hour a day, or 8 hours with two hours on videos, two hours on games, two hours on publishing, and two hours on internet. Plus you can set alarms to wake your precious bundles up, or have the units shut off at X time.

It encourages chores, using a treasure box application and a bit of money. As the kids earn the coins they can purchase "safe" content (movies books games and applications) from nabi which is wonderful for teaching about goals, and working to get what you want.

It also gives you good insight to your child's learning abilities and weaknesses so you can work with them using "wings" Essentially you let them run wild playing this game / education program and it informs you on how well they do. It works from pre-k on up.

Worried About Communications to Strangers? Don't be. It has its own chat client that you can install on your phone so you can talk via email, txt etc. to them. Also if their friends have a nabi you in parent mode can add them to your kids nabi. One things to note here, if you don't have the randomly generated code for that nabi and kid you can not reach out to them. Which is wonderful for peace of mind.

It has a monitoring software Called NSA (makes me smile ol big brother that you have access to) and it reports all communications, pictures emails sent via email chat and received messages if you are worried about what may be going on and need to check on your kid's safety.

Now with all that being said this is a brief description, these things have forward facing speakers, Bluetooth, and mirror cast and the screen is HD. Also for games they rock out, very rarely do we see one slow down. (the Intel suffers at games, but even our nabi Jr for our smallest kid performs wonderfully on games and videos which is again an NVidia.)

How does it handle being dropped? Surprisingly well. it comes with a red surround that really does a good job of making the thing bounce around when falling while absorbing the shock. They are sturdy, and feel very stabile and solid in the hands.

All of my kids have one, and I do limit the time they spend on them so they don't forget how to interact. When I found one on sale at BestBuy for $60.00 I jumped on it and now I have one for my business. That makes four nabi tablets in my house, and I highly recommend them.

Compared to the Lenovo Business Tablet I had before this thing the Lenovo that cost 800.00 looses now very easily, and the nabi is so much better. All apps run on it, it has a stylist that performs well, and it makes keeping social media and emails a lot easier to keep up with around the office during the evening.

They call it "INSPIRATION AND TOOLS FOR CREATIVE MINDS." and for once, I feel a company is underselling themselves and their products.
